Another time related question

How are we to start the 'getting to bed' process at 8 o'clock if daughter finishes Guides at 9 o'clock?

Why does the going to bed process have to start at 8pm? If daughter thought old enough for Guides, she's old enough to stay up past 8pm. Maybe going to bed isn't a process anyway - maybe its to do with going to sleep when you're tired. If she's tired at 8pm, maybe she's not ready for Guides.

Perhaps I need to explain - we have 2 children - our daughter, who goes to Guides, is pretty good nowadays at going to bed - her younger brother, however, frequently resists - hence the need for a process which takes time - but I have to fetch our daughter from Guides, which means that the process of getting our son to go to bed cannot start until I return - further delayed yesterday evening because our daughter had some homework which she wanted me to help with.

So what you need is a process which allows time for you to go away and come back - maybe a bath or something relaxing (or at least not stimulating)for son in the meantime. Might actually work better that way - gives him "warning" that proper bedtime is when you get back and an hour to get used to the idea. Unless he has to go with you of course - sorry didn't think of that!

Absolutely! a routine for Thursday nights. It's early days yet - our daughter has only just started Guides - I'm sure that we'll get there.
