Actually, taking the car would get me home considerably earlier, and would mean that I could leave the house later. Of course, it would be more harmful to the planet, and these days I derive a strange sort of pleasure from making the best of a not terribly convenient (for my journey) bus service. This morning, I managed to get off one bus, and on to the one in front, by a judicious choice of stops.
